The King family have been in business in Lenzie since the Nineteen-seventies!

Many Lenzie residents fondly remember Andrew King’s father, the late John King, who was Lenzie’s pharmacist for many years. His pharmacy was situated just a few doors along from the premises now occupied by Andrew King Optician.

Andrew King qualified as an ophthalmic optician (optometrist) in 1984. During the next few years, he gained valuable experience working in both the Hospital Eye service and the academic world.

In 1991, he established his own full time independent practice in Lenzie. The practice soon became renowned for its high standard of eyecare and its reasonable prices. Thanks to recommendations, the practice continues to grow and has an ever increasing patient base.

Also in 1991, Andrew was awarded the Specialist Diploma in Contact Lens Practice (Dip.C.L.P.) indicating particular competence in this demanding clinical field.

In 2015 Andrew was delighted to be awarded Independent Prescriber status by the College of Optometrists, having successfully completed a post graduate diploma in ocular therapeutics. (Dip.T.p.I.P.). This allows him to treat a range of ocular conditions and, where appropriate, to write NHS ocular prescriptions.

In 2018, Andrew was awarded the Professional Certificate in Medical Retina by the College of Optometrists.

Andrew is ably assisted in the practice by receptionists: Carol and Jacqueline

Andrew King is registered with the General Optical Council and is a member of the British College of Optometrists and the association of Optometrists. Andrew recently conducted clinics in the West of Scotland Optometry Teach and Treat clinic at Stobhill General Hospital.
