OCT: The latest in Eye Examination Technology

In 2016 the practice installed a state of the art Topcon OCT camera.
OCT- Optical Coherence Tomography- is an advanced eye scan for people of all ages. Similar to ultrasound, OCT uses light rather than sound waves to illustrate the different layers that make up the back of the eye.
The scan is non invasive, painless, simple and quick. It provides an invaluable ongoing record of the health and condition of the eyes.

Common eye conditions that can often be detected through OCT screening include;

• Age related macular degeneration
• Glaucoma
• Macular holes
• Vitreous degeneration.

Where appropriate, OCT screening will be included in your eye examination. Please note that a small additional fee may be levied for OCT screening.
